Heavenly Father, our human ties with our friends of other species is wonderful and a special gift from You. We now ask You to grant our special animal companions your Fatherly care and healing power to take away any suffering they have. Give us, their human friends, new understanding of our responsibilities to these creatures of Yours. They have trust in us as we have in You; our souls and theirs are on this earth together to give one another friendship, affection, and caring. Take our heartfelt prayers and fill Your ill or suffering animals with healing Light and strength to overcome whatever weakness of body they have.

Your goodness is turned upon every living thing and Your grace flows to all Your creatures. From our souls to theirs goodness flows, touching each of us with the reflection of Your love. Grant to our special animal companions long and healthy lives. Give them good relationships with us, and if You see fit to take them from us, help us to understand that they are not gone from us, but only drawing closer to You. Grant our prayer through the intercession of good St. Francis of Assisi, who honored You through all Your creatures.
 
Give him the power to watch over our animal friends until they are safely with You in eternity, where we someday hope to join them in giving You honor forever.

What is Traditional Latin Mass?
 
The Traditional Latin Mass, also known as the Tridentine Mass or the Extraordinary Form, is the form of the Catholic Mass codified in the Roman Missal of 1570 and used until its replacement by the Novus Ordo Missae after the Second Vatican Council. It is characterized by the priest facing the altar, the extensive use of Ecclesiastical Latin and traditional Gregorian chant.
Can Catholics attend Traditional Latin Mass?
 
Catholics can attend the Traditional Latin Mass (TLM). However, their ability to do so depends on their local bishop’s permission, as Pope Francis placed new restrictions in 2021 that require clergy to request authorization to offer the TLM. While the TLM was once the universal form of the Mass, most parishes now use the Mass in the local language. Catholics interested in attending should contact their local diocesan office to inquire about permitted TLMs in their area.
As of 2026, is Traditional Latin Mass restricted?
 
As of 2026, the Traditional Latin Mass (TLM) is restricted in the Catholic Church due to Pope Francis’s 2021 document Traditionis custodes, which requires bishops to authorize its celebration and limits its use to specific locations outside of ordinary parish churches, and restricts its use by newly ordained priests.

 Why Do Some Women Wear Veils? Should I? 

Veiling is a way to bring yourself closer to Christ. The practice of veiling for Mass goes back centuries and was considered customary before the Second Vatican Council (more Catholics have veiled in history than not). Many women still wear a veil as a sign of reverence, modesty, and in imitation of the Virgin Mary. It is important to remember that veiling is not a display of virtue, but it illustrates the individual understands the importance of virtue and that Mass is a sacred space. Veiling is another way of showing how we honor Jesus in our hearts.
 
Whether or not one wishes to veil is a personal choice. However, the practice of veiling can help the individual prepare mentally for Mass and may allow them to personally receive more from the celebration. If you have not veiled before, try it.

 What Color Veil Should I Wear?

Some women prefer to wear different colors of veils based on the Liturgical Calendar. In general, the most acceptable color of veil to wear in all parts of the Liturgical Year and during Holy Days is black.

 How Do I Purchase a Veil?

There is no right or wrong way to purchase a veil. Most Catholics wear a Mantilla veil. Mantilla veils originate from Spain. A chapel veil typically refers to a veil that reaches the floor, extending slightly beyond the wedding gown’s train, while a Mantilla is a Spanish-style veil, often made of lace, that drapes flat over the head and shoulders to frame the face. When you think of a Catholic veil for Mass, you are most likely thinking of a Mantilla veil. The terms Chapel and Mantilla veil are often used interchangeably (especially in North America or English-speaking countries) to refer to the Spanish-style.
